Psychological screening for those seeking to be egg donors, sperm donors, or gestational carriers. Some clinics may refer to this as an evaluation. Session length varies and typically involves multiple sessions.

  • Purpose is to ensure potential donors or GCs meet the guidelines for donation or surrogacy and do not evidence exclusionary criteria as outlined in the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) guidelines
  • Involves a clinical interview and completion of the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI), a standardized & empirically validated measure of psychological functioning
  • If a donor or GC is married or has a live-in partner, the spouse or partner will also be required to attend part of the meeting
  • Provide psychoeducational counseling about the process & implications of being a donor or GC
  • Discuss psychological aspects of being a donor or GC
  • Discuss guidelines for ensuring the psychological well-being of all parties involved
  • Agency or clinic will be provided with an evaluation report with recommendations 
Psychoeducational consultation for people receiving donor eggs, donor sperm, and/or a gestational carrier (surrogate). Some clinics or agencies may refer to this consultation as a psychological evaluation or assessment. Sessions are 60 - 90 minutes long.

  • Purpose is to aid in the decision of using donor eggs, sperm, or a gestational carrier and provide psychoeducational counseling about the process & implications in according with American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Guidelines
  • Learn about and discuss psychological aspects of becoming a parent through donor eggs/sperm/surrogacy
  • Learn about psychological aspects of and research supported socioemotional practices for raising a donor conceived person
  • Process grief and loss 
  • Learn about the process of donor conception and/or surrgoacy
  • Clinic will be provided with a consultation note that addresses topics covered in and confirms completion of the session
Specialized individual therapy for reproductive mental health, grief, and anxiety. Sessions are 50 minutes long.
